BREN'S AND RUTH'S AIRCRAFT PHOTOS
(Click thumbnail to see pic, then CLICK AGAIN for sharper image)
Welcome
The photographs on this site were all taken by two aviation enthusiasts since the 1950s.

The very early ones were taken with a Brownie 127, then an Ilford Sportsman, an Agfa Compact and later with a Konica 35mm SLR. More recently cameras have been a Canon EOS650, Fuji 9600 and now a Canon EOS20. Ruth uses a Sony Cybershot mini-camera.

We do not claim to be ace photographers and view most of the pics as "record" shots rather than technical photographic masterpieces! In fact, many of the really old pics on here are in a terrible state, but the content is, we think, well worth a look and we still derive pleasure from flicking through them. Some of the pics from the 50s and early 60s have been scanned from tiny "contact" prints from 127 or 35mm film. Some 127 negatives have been photographed using the EOS20D and a Tamron 90mm macro lens, which provides reasonable quality.

When all is said and done it's the aircraft we are interested in so excuse the poor photography but enjoy the planes.

Aviation Pics
Some odd photographs, not of aeroplane but of allied matters.
Science Museum Wroughton
We paid a visit to the Science Museum in Wroughton on 5th October, 2005. It was extremely difficult to obtain good pictures due to the light and the lack of space to get everything into the shot.
Vimy Replica at Fairoaks 15 June 2009
The Vimy Replica stopped off at Fairoaks on its way home from Galway. Approaching from the west it overflew, made a run and break and then landed and taxied to park outside the tea shop.
Heathrow Airport 17 January 2009
We visited Heathrow to see the departure of the first scheduledf QANTAS A-380, VH-OQC. Pics were taken from T2 car park, against the light. Surprisingly, although it was a cold morning, there was quite a heat haze at times.
Popham Airfield 21st September 2008
Solent Aviation Society Fly-in always attracts interesting visitors if the weather plays ball. It did this weekend and we took these pics during a 2-hour visit on the Sunday afternoon.
Popham Airfield 14th September 2008
Today was scheduled to be a Vintage Cessna Fly-In. Unfortunately, early low cloud and poor visibility presumably put some pilots off and the turn-out was meagre.
Farnborough Airport 13 July 2008
We headed down in the evning to see the Kingfisher A330 and Czech AF A319.
Popham 11th May 2008
We paid a brief visit around midday expecting to see lots of DH and vintage aircraft for the Fly-In. I guess we were early because there were not too many to be seen.
Oaksey Farm Fly-In 5th August 2007
We spent a couple of hours at this very friendly airstrip and photographed most of what we saw.
Popham PFA Fly-In 8th July 2007
Popham Airfield 10 June 2007
Supposed "Aerobtaic A/c Fly-In" didn't produce too much..
New Zealand, Norfolk Island and USA March/April 2007
We spent 6 weeks "down under" in March-April and saw many hundreds of interesting aircraft. Here are a few star items...
Redhill & Fairoaks Airfields 8 November 2006
On our way home from Redhill we stopped off at Fairoaks just in time to watch the Airship 600 flying.
DH Moth Tour Popham 2 July 2006
Well we got there early, but some had already escaped! Most of these aircraft were connected with the Moth Tour but one or two were just local visitors.
Air Britain Fly-In North Weald 18 June 2006
A brilliant day out with much nostalgia for us with some real Golden Oldies. As a result, Bren (re)joined Air Britain after a lapse of about 30 years.
Popham - Photos taken at this very popular airfield
Many of the pics in this album were visitors but a few local residents are included.
Miscellaneous Pics
Many pics scanned from old negatives and slides will be placed here until we find more info; then they'll be placed in appropriate galleries... Also in this collection will be odd "modern" photographs which do not conveniently fit in other collections.
Bizjets & Light A/c Southern UK - EGLL, EGLF, EGLK, etc
We live close to Farnborough and Blackbushe and visit these airfields quite often. We also visit Heathrow, Popham and other airfields within easy reach. This is a collection of pics taken on such trips.
Airline "Jet" Equipment
A collection of jet/turboprop airliners, from the 60s when jets first entered service to the present day. From Britannias, Viscounts and Comets to 747-400s and A380; they're in here..
Yesteryear. Golden Oldies. Props from long ago
Many of these photos are of poor quality compared to today's technological marvels. Most were taken with basic cameras with a fixed lens. Photoshop has been used to clean-up scratches and other marks, otherwise the pics are "as is". We hope they bring back memories for older enthusiasts and show the younger ones what things used to be like. All are props.....
About Me
Bren is a retired Heathrow Air Traffic Controller with a lifelong interest in aircraft, preferably those driven by fans on the front rather than blowlamps at the back! However, some current airliners enthral him with their size - B747, A380, etc., and light aircraft provide an interest too.

Ruth has always loved aircraft and spent a couple of years in RAF uniform before marrying Bren. They were both spotters in the early days; Ruth even incurred the wrath of the RAF Police for collecting numbers at one station where she was based! They stopped writing numbers after a trip to the USA in the mid-60s but recently, now Bren is retired, the interest was re-kindled so if you see two oldy spotters it might be them.

Civil, military, UK and foreign, heavy and light... they like looking at them all.
